Franciszek Wiącek

Franciszek Wiącek is an advocate of the Warsaw Bar and a partner at MLW Legal. He has built his practice around the most complex and consequential aspects of law, where international disputes intersect with the realities of business. He advises on high-stakes white collar crime matters and complex civil disputes, with particular emphasis on succession and wealth management, ensuring that the assets of entrepreneurs and families are not only protected, but also properly structured with a view to continuity and responsible intergenerational transfer.

At the same time, he develops his arbitration practice in close connection with his academic work.

He is a scholarship holder of the Erasmus+ programme (Université Paris Nanterre). Under the supervision of Professor Andrzej Szlęzak, he is preparing a doctoral dissertation entitled “The Redefinition of Investment Arbitration in the European Union: From a Bilateral System Based on BITs (Investor-State Dispute Settlement) to a Permanent Investment Court System”. This combination of practitioner and researcher experience allows him to look at international disputes not only through the prism of current challenges, but also in the light of the structural transformations shaping the future of investment arbitration in Europe.

He serves as Chairman of the European Law Section at the Warsaw Bar, actively supporting professional dialogue, international co-operation and the development of a modern legal culture. He is also a member of the Commission for Community Integration, Culture and Sport at the Warsaw Bar, acting as Co-ordinator of the Golf Section, and a member of the Commission for the History and Tradition of the Warsaw Bar at the Warsaw Bar.
